ISO 31000 FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) was approved by an outstanding majority 96 % and the new version of the standard is planned for next month.

A translation of ISO 31000: 2009 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines into Arabic has been adopted by the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization (JSMO). The Arabic version of ISO 31000:2009 has been officially accredited and is being implemented in Jordan since October 2nd, 2017 after having been approved by the Jordanian Cabinet as a Jordanian Standard for Risk Management under the name of »JS 2159/2017 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines«. ISO 31000 was circulated as FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) for voting by the NSBS in October. An outstanding majority of more than 90 % approved the FDIS and the new version of the standard is planned for publication in early 2018.

At its meeting in Sunnyvale from July 10th to July 14th TC 262 and its WG 2 managed to review more than 800 comments and after a final editing check ISO 31000 is expected to go to Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) stage for ballot. TC members hope that the revised standard will be published early next year. Also, TC 262 discussed strategy in Sunnyvale and WG 5 met and addressed the comments to WD (working draft) 2 of ISO 31022 Risk management – Guidelines for the management of legal Risk.
Following the approval of ISO/DIS 31000:2017 with a clear majority of 88% of the votes cast TC 262 and ist working group 2 will meet in Sunnyvale, California from today, July 10th to July 14th to continue the revision of the standard. For this meeting WG 2 is well prepared as all task groups from the Amman meeting have held virtual meetings to plan their approach in Sunnyvale.
TC 262 will also be discussing strategic plans to create a family of standards on risk management with companion standards to ISO 31000.
